AUTHOR PERSONAL ASSISTANT SERVICES

Wish you had a few extra hours in the day? Need to write and not worry about tasks being completed? Have you ever wished you had a few extra hours in the day to send out review copies to book bloggers, mail those prizes from your last giveaway that happened months ago, update your website, send out a newsletter, start a street team, and more? Then maybe it’s time to consider hiring an author’s assistant.
Novel Needs is here to offer you assistance with pre-made and custom covers, editing, and other services so you can focus on what's most important—writing! We know there just never seems to be enough time in a day to write, plot, or edit, and still manage to build your audience, connect with your readers, and still have a life outside of writing. This is where hiring an assistant can help. We'll do as little or as much as you need us to do. We want you to succeed! Services start at $40/hr., however arrangements can be made if you require less time and only wish for help on a few things. Email us to discuss details.

I mean, clearly there are those of us, many of us, who either didn’t finish NaNo, or whose NaNo wasn’t long enough to finish our stories, and of course the answer for us is clear – finish that rough draft. For the rest of you, run your novel through spell-check, do a few read-throughs, make sure your story says what you want it to. I like to print it out at this stage, mark it up, write pages and pages of new material on the back, sort it out by chapter, making index cards for each one… There are a lot of ways to edit it, to clean it up and make it consumable by eyes-that-aren’t-our-own. But, eventually, we’re going to have to let the manuscript go. To send it to a beta reade...

While they may be fellow writers, there’s no rule that says they must be. The main criteria for a beta reader is that they are widely read in the genre of your story, they know what they like and don’t like, can make a guess as to why they have either reaction—and aren’t afraid to tell you. A fellow writer is going to give you plenty of opinions about metaphors, punctuation, cliches, and grammar, which is why they’re more likely to fit the bill as a critique partner than beta reader. A beta reader isn’t an...
